I WARNED YOU...I'M A ROMANTIC!!
There are so many of us who don't have a "significant other". No one who will tell us in the loftiest language how beautiful and wonderful we are. No one to buy us flowers or nice gifts. Many of us are still waiting on the person that God will send to the be the human expression of His love for us. And what are we to do when we're feeling a little...unloved?
I have the ANSWER!!Look around you! Look at the beautiful flowers that have bloomed due to what may have seemed like endless days of rain. Look at the lush green grass, listen to the beautiful birds chirping as they flit from tree to tree.
If you happen to live near a natural body of water take the time to look at it. Look at how the water rolls up onto the sand and feel it tickle your feet. Look at how far the water stretches, how the clear aquamarine turns to clear blue turns to deep turquoise turns to the deepest blue you've ever seen (in some places LOL). And look at how the beautiful powder blue sky meets the deep blue of the ocean. Listen to the wind. It speaks in so many ways. It's a light whisper and can become a forceful gust or a high pitched whistle. Look at how the bees, butterflies and eagles ride the wind with their wings moving at varying speeds displaying the beautiful colors painted by God's delicate paint brush. Look at the mountains and valleys, the rock formations and tiny pools of water. I could go on and on...but the point is all these things are God's love letter to us. God created this beautiful earth and gave us dominion over all things in it to enjoy. And He called it Eden. Now of course, Eden was a long time ago and since then the earth has been altered significantly due to unfortunate disobedience, sin, and poor care taking. BUT there are still very many gorgeous parts of nature which, I think, are mere whispers of what Eden must have looked like.
A few days ago I had the pleasure of visiting Niagara Falls. It was a gorgeous day! The sun was blazing in a clear blue sky and I had a change to experience the natural wonder of the Falls.
I took a ride on the "Maid of the Mist" which gets you up close and personal. So close that you need a rain poncho to keep you from being drenched. I saw the beauty of birds playing, dipping, and diving in the turquoise water and white froth. And I saw some of the most beautiful flowers i'd ever seen. Some were huge and bright with a variety of colors while others were tiny and monochromatic. I even had the pleasure of watching a bee pollinate a 25 year old Japanese Peony!
Luke 12:28 says: "If God gives...attention to the wild flowers, most of them never even seen, don't you think He'll attend to you, take pride in you, do His best for you?" (Message) God paid close attention to each and every flower KNOWING that many of them may never be seen by a single person. And yet this scripture challenges us to believe that the attention he paid to those flowers doesn't compare to the attention that He will pay to each of us. HE LOVES US THAT MUCH and reminds us, with the beauty of nature, of that love. So the next time you travel across the world, across the country, across the street or look out your back window, be reminded of God's love for you. Look at every color, every pattern, and listen to the beauty of nature and know that God has written you a love letter. He's so romantic! He's the ULTIMATE LOVER!!
